New Year, New Us

With the New Year on our doorstep we are looking back at the year that was, 2017, and the year that will be in 2018. Due to health problems, I understandably dropped the ball on progressing with our minimalism and sustainability goals. But we are back. Ready to go and roaring for change.

Our goals for 2018

Goal One: purchase the majority of our food from local businesses instead of relying on the supermarket for the majority of our groceries.

Goal Two: say no to plastic bags. When out and about take reusable bags with us always or say no to plastic and carry our purchases.

Goal Three: create a vegetable garden that provides the majority of our vegetables we consume.

Goal Four: source the majority of our meat locally.

Goal Five: reduce our weekly spending on groceries.

Goal Six: repaint the inside of our home (bedrooms and lounge).

Goal Seven: make our own shampoo, conditioner, cleaning products, baby wipes, toothpaste, hand soap, and dishwashing liquid.

Goal Eight: save up enough money to buy a pasta maker, sewing machine, and cake mixer.

Goal Nine: start op shop crockery collection.

Goal Ten: build up a recipe collection that matches our homegrown goods.

Goal Eleven: make progress towards the house extension

Goal Twelve: start making own clothes (not for everything just a start).

Goal Thirteen: add live greenery around the home

Goal Fourteen: learn about decluttering and do a thorough declutter of home to start with a minimalist base.

Goal Fifteen: only give thoughtful gifts and blog about gift ideas that suit a minimalist lifestyle to help family and friends understand our new way of living.

Goal Sixteen: repurpose old furniture (mainly bedside tables and dresser).

Goal Seventeen: get into candle making.

Goal Eighteen: make a recipe collection of foods for Fern while also adjusting our eating to suit family meal times.

Goal Nineteen: slow down.

Goal Twenty: blog about our journey
